About NSI

Letter From Tom
When I’m asked “Why NSI?”, what comes to mind are the faces of the people on our team. It’s funny because, when we opened back in 1985, some of these baby faces hadn’t even been born yet!
What’s our secret sauce? To put it simply, it’s been our ability to anticipate our customer’s needs. My dad, Vince McDonald, started NSI with this motto, “Old-Fashioned service from Today’s Computer Company.” And when customers asked for more, we obliged by offering asset management, cloud migrations, help desk, and more recently, we’re all about cyber security.
Today our motto is “Helping our clients succeed” because, well, that’s what we’re all about.
—Tom McDonald

Our History
NSI is a multigenerational family business founded in Connecticut in 1985. Small and midsize organizations have relied on us for their productivity and security for over 40 years. Over this time, we've mastered the changing technologies that impact our clients' outcomes: the personal computer, the internet, the cloud, and now, AI-driven analytics and insights.
Despite starting out 40+ years ago, our team of young specialists stays current on every new development in business technology, ensuring you'll always be able to deploy the most efficient and secure tools to run your operations.
Our mission: Better returns on your IT investment
We’re committed to helping you realize the promise of technology — that it’s an investment, not merely an expense. Skeptical? We get it. IT issues and poor support can slow your operations and distract you from your objectives. We know that for many small businesses, IT doesn’t seem to generate value, only delays, surprise costs, and disappointing results. But we also know that these failures are completely avoidable.
The right tools
With the right tools and their proper implementation and management, today's technologies can be a real driver of profit and not simply a cost. Your IT really can remove barriers to your productivity and collaboration, and it definitely does not need to be some necessary evil slowing you down and wasting your time.

How it works
To achieve our mission of better ROI from your IT, we combine technical expertise with a proven approach of strategic planning, budgeting, and day-to-day management that delivers measurable results. To put it simply, as our client, you will have technology plans that align with your priorities, and you'll realize significant business results from your technology investments.
What sets NSI apart
Extraordinary responsiveness
To ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients, we follow an operational methodology of excess capacity. Unlike other IT providers who profit through operational efficiency, we don’t consider idle NSI team members to be a wasted resource.
Instead, we prefer to have people standing by to support you no matter what needs arise. This is key to making good on our promise of delivering responsive service, not just when things go right, but also when facing unexpected challenges or opportunities. You can count on someone being there when you need us.

Extraordinary competence
We're committed to ongoing education and training and firmly believe competence is essential to providing professional advice to our clients.
All NSI staff can access tuition reimbursement to pursue college degrees or other paths of study, and compensation is directly tied to demonstrated skill development through industry certifications.
We also provide learning opportunities for technical and nontechnical professionals working for our clients. This includes hosting regular events, such as advanced cybersecurity classes at no charge, and dedicated on-site training for clients in the most common technologies.

Frequently asked questions
Who are you guys?
New England Systems, Inc. was founded in 1985 in Naugatuck and has been providing productivity and security solutions for Connecticut businesses ever since. It is still a family-run business, and many of our clients have been with us for decades.
We actively serve over 100 local businesses in nearly every industry as well as nonprofits.
Despite starting out 40+ years ago, our team of young specialists stays current on every new development in business IT, ensuring our clients can always deploy the most efficient and secure tools to run their operations.
Our users are not IT savvy. How would you handle that?
Where does NSI provide services? Does NSI provide remote service?
Our offices are in Naugatuck, and our technical teams work in the field on a daily basis in Waterbury, Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport, Danbury, and throughout Connecticut.
We offer both on-site and remote services. Every situation is different, so every response will be different. Whether that means us visiting your site or working with you remotely, we’ll always solve problems as efficiently as possible.
Most issues can be resolved remotely in the least amount of time. Existing clients can log in to our Client Portal, and existing or new clients can message us here, email us at sales@nsiserv.com, or call 203-723-4431.
Does NSI have a help desk? What if we have a problem after hours?
Does NSI use subcontractors?
No, all of our technicians are NSI employees. We train together, and client satisfaction is a shared responsibility. This approach helps our team get a deep understanding of our clients’ needs, goals, and challenges.
Our goal is to put your mind at ease through consistency: As an NSI client, you’ll be assigned a primary technician who is supported by their own small team, all of whom can access any information needed to perform proactive maintenance on your systems or respond to your requests. You’ll be seeing and hearing the same faces and voices helping you, and they won’t need to waste time familiarizing themselves with your processes and infrastructure.
